panasonic dvr vcr

How do i record my comcast dvr content onto my vcr for later viewing, why still being able to view HD content?
i have a 42 inch panasonic plasma hd screen and i have a comcast digital cable box with HD channels and dvr. i also have a old vcr hooked up but i dont know if its hooked up to the cable box correctly or even at all.
i seem to having troube recording stuff from my cable box onto my vcr, because i have to switch video/component modes to go from vcr to my cable
now, cuz i want to dvr g4tv shows and then record them onto a vcr, so all those shows dont take up dvr space (and i still want to keep the shows)
it seems that i cant record anything from the cable to the vcr. im just wondering y
and if it just means connecting some cable cords in different plugs then thats kool but will i still be able to do everything normal from then on? like still be able to watch my HD shows, etc
so again, how do i record dvr content onto vcr, but without screwing up the HD viewing?
It is impossible to record HD content onto a VHS tape because VHS doesn’t support it, at all. VCRs commonly only have composite or S-Video input both of which do not support HD but you can purchase a HD capture card that supports digital HD and record onto your computers hard disk in any format you wish that supports HD.
